The world is facing an education crisis. Right now a staggering 244 million children are denied the promise of education, and more than half the world’s children cannot read a simple text by the age of 10.
UWS is a locally-driven organisation, working alongside the world’s most remote and marginalised communities to ensure every child’s right to quality, inclusive education.
By collaborating with local partners, communities and governments, UWS creates sustainable solutions that provide access to primary education at scale. They build and resource schools, train teachers, and strengthen education systems for future generations. Shifting the focus from delivering short-term change, to empowering system-level change for the long term.
Their low-cost, high-impact model builds local level capacity as opposed to creating long-term dependencies. With the goal to transition UWS schools into the national education system after a 5-7 year period, they ensure that resilient education systems continue to flourish beyond our involvement.
UWS operates in rural areas of Cambodia, Nepal, Myanmar and Madagascar to reduce barriers to primary education and to create equal opportunities for every child. Since their founding, they’ve built and developed over 300 schools, supported over 68,000 children and trained over 1,500 teachers. Each of these milestones represents a step towards a future where no child is left behind.
Their aim is to build a world where every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive and create the future they imagine.
Because when you educate the future, you change the future.
